HEADLINERS 2019

LIONSTAR

Lionstar is an twenty-first century Reggae six piece, fusing Reggae with Rock and World music. From the UKs Southwest, Lionstar perform a stellar mix of originals and classics, and are highly regarded throughout the industry, regularly rubbing shoulders on stage with the greats, from UB40, Aswad, Bad Manners, Soul II Soul, Happy Mondays and even the legendary Lee Scratch Perry to name just a few!

Mixing classic Reggae with innovative Dub, pumping Funk, doleful Soul and etherial World music, all driven by phat hypnotic bass set beneath high-octaine lead guitars and sabre-sharp drums, producing a soundscape for the soulful vocals of Ron Unity, makes this band one of the UKs rising Stars. Make no mistake. The Lion will roar!

Lionstar are now regulars on the Global circuit, headlining festivals throughout the UK and Europe to South America and Asia. Add to this gigs at Glastonbury and Boomtown, you know you’re in for a great night with a first class international act!

CLOSING ACT 2019

FILTA

Filta is a keyboard led band that is changing the way in which dance music and pop reach live audiences.

Filta was formed by keyboard player Huw Weston in 2015 excited to announce that Dan Rossiter is now joining us as our new drummer, alongside Huw on keyboards, Callum Meenan Fry on bass guitar culminating with the amazing vocals of Joe Taylor.

Filta have evolved over the past few years from bringing those dance music covers to really exploring their own sound and are now in a place where their creativity is flying. With the launch of their debut album in September 2018 “Running from the Truth”, this has seen huge crowds at regional festivals singing along to their own songs. “I found Someone” seems to be the current big favourite in getting the crowds to jump, sing and interact with the band. This song has allowed Filta to become part of their audience and vice versa. This feeling has ignited the band to further push boundaries and bring this fusion of piano led tunes with the strong raw vocals of Joe to really start to write the music they have always wanted to write.

Of course Filta will always add some of those favourite covers that the band has built their reputation on into the set but now is the time for Filta to drive forward their contemporary evolution and their singer/song writing ability. Filta are very excited to be writing a new album that pushes boundaries and really pushes forward that piano led sound. Kicking off this month sees the release of the brand new single, “Drunk on you” from the forth coming album. This album encompasses everything that makes Filta a fascinating prospect, angular, sharp and ambitious with piano led melodies coupled with observational, questioning and socially engaging lyrics. Lyrics that find beauty in the everyday and ultimately translate deeply personal experiences into something universal. Huw from the band recently stated “This is a new sound that we’ve been searching for since our coming together and really showcases what Joe can do vocally but also the tunes we are producing allow us as a band to really believe in what we are doing as every beat, note etc is part of us. It is an exciting time and a time that audiences will see the real us. We want our audiences to have a great time at our gigs and that is why we do what we do and why delivering our sound live is of the utmost importance to us. “

We are so looking forward to playing new venues, sold out venues and ultimately a summer run of summer festivals including Watchet festival, Dorset Volksfest along with a number of well known festivals soon to be announced.

Jackdaw

JACKDAW was formed in 2016 from the ashes of the hugely successful local cover band Storm, who disbanded after 18 years.

Looking for something slightly different Simon Kearvell enlisted the help of former Dinosaur Café Vocalist Ben Clarke and Drummer from Local Band Hundred Days Mr Ryan Leese, with ex Storm Bassist Stephen Ricketts the line-up was complete. Unfortunately we have had a recent change of bass player and we welcome James Ireland who has over 25 years of experience to bring to the band.

Whilst looking to continue playing some classic rock hits the band have also got a soulful side and play a very diverse set list to cater for all events. Everything from Queen to Stevie Wonder, and they continue to challenge themselves with all styles of music.

We are more than excited to be playing Coker fest this year as two of the members are ‘local lads’ from East Coker. This will be a very special night for us and we sincerely hope that we can make it a special night for all that attend… whatever the weather.
